The Opportunity

To work with students and staff to develop and promote a positive student experience and vibrant UCFB community. To engage with students through academic and non-academic enrichment activities which encourage Student Voice, engagement and participation. Assisting with first line welfare and information guidance support. To lead on the Students’ Union Executive Team and societies development through strong partnerships with students, staff and relevant organisations.

About You

The successful candidate will have a degree (or equivalent qualification), and have experience of organising or supporting student events.


  1. To lead, engage and promote the Students’ Union Executive, whilst encouraging them to be proactive in their posts.
  2. To be creative with social media and promotional material ensuring professional standards are met, and all communication adheres to UCFB Brand Guidelines
  3. To oversee the delivery of all events and activities for students from planning and logistics stages through to delivery and reporting.
  4. To proactively encourage students to develop themselves by being a positive and visible influence around the campus
  5. To develop a broad understanding of the student dynamics within the campus and to work actively with individuals and groups of students to develop a supportive, friendly environment and a dynamic student and staff community
  6. To build relationships with students (on an individual and group basis) and advocate their views, opinions and needs
  7. To collaborate with wider Student Services, the Students’ Union and Athletic Union on regular information updates for students, with contributions from the whole department and other staff
  8. To monitor and regularly review engagement with activities and produce a regular monitoring report which results in an annual improvement plan
  9. To attend service and departmental meetings, and external meetings where appropriate
  10. To assist in the development and evaluation of policy and good practice within the service
  11. To aid and inform UCFB policy and direction by identifying issues and common trends arising from the remit of work within the service and feeding these back to UCFB management
  12. Liaise with academic and professional service departments and third parties to provide a joined up service to students.
  13. To be alert to general student support issues, providing pastoral care, referring cases to the Student Services Advisors upon escalation of concern
  14. To work flexibly and responsibly and undertake any other duties relevant to the level of the post.

Additional Information

Working hours: Working hours normally 8.30 am - 5pm but may involve additional and unsocial working hours depending on the nature of the event and occasional travel between campus.

Please note that if you do not have permission to work in the UK, UCFB will not be able to obtain a Certificate of Sponsorship for you to take up this position.  All non EU/EAA candidates must have valid immigration status and/or a UK visa valid for the duration of the contract in order to be considered for this role.

Salary: £18,000 to £22,000 per annum pro rata (depending upon qualifications)
