The Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London is ranked as one of the top research departments in the UK. Active research in the Department includes the development of membranes and filters for a range of applications in fluid separation and chemical reactions. The successful candidates will join a dynamic, multidisciplinary research team committed to excellence, working on a project which will involve investigations into the development of nanoengineering membranes as a low-energy separation process to replace energy intensive ones such as distillation and evaporation processes currently employed in the oil, gas and chemicals industry.
You should hold a Masters level degree (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Engineering or a related subject and have obtained a PhD (or equivalent, or be near completion) in studies of Chemical Engineering or Materials Engineering. You should have experience in porous materials, organic synthesis, or composite membrane fabrication.
Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £36,045 - £39,183 per annum.
The post is available immediately and appointment is for 24 months with a possibility for extension. The post is based in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London (South Kensington Campus).
