UH8 (Senior Lecturer) £40,927 pa with potential to progress to £51,799 pa by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience.

Accounting professionals who may have minimal teaching experience and are interested in a career change, are encouraged to apply for this role.

We have experienced strong growth at PG level and additionally are launching a Graduate MBA in January 2022. We therefore need to recruit additional staff with an interest in teaching at this level.

Main duties & responsibilities

The successful applicant will contribute to the teaching and module leadership in the undergraduate, postgraduate and executive programmes offered by the School. You will be expected to engage in scholarly and research activity in the field which includes undertaking supervision of student projects, dissertations and theses.

In addition, you will participate, as appropriate, in the School’s external interface with businesses and the community, engage with the School’s business development activities and maintain and develop links with relevant professional bodies and academic groupings.

Finally, you will contribute, as appropriate, to administration and programme development and support the overseas activities of the School.

Experience and skills needed

You will have a proven track record of teaching within Higher Education or experience of training and mentoring in a commercial/professional context and expert knowledge in your subject area. Experience of student project and dissertation supervision is desirable, as is a record in research publications.

You will have the ability to communicate effectively, clearly and supportively with both students and academic colleagues, and the ability to deal with conflicting demands and priorities with a high level of attention to detail. You will also be able to demonstrate an ability to teach via a variety of delivery methods e.g. blended learning, online learning, on campus learning.

Qualifications required

Lecturer, UH7:

  • Relevant industry experience and be an exam qualified member of a CCAB accounting qualification or international equivalent

Senior Lecturer, UH8:

  • Hold a PhD in a relevant subject area or,
  • Demonstrate significant relevant industry experience and hold membership of a CCAB accounting qualification or international equivalent
