Public Policy is one of the five new strategic areas identified by HKUST for its future development.  The Division of Public Policy (PPOL), under the Interdisciplinary Programs Office (IPO), was established in 2017 to spearhead this effort through the development of interdisciplinary policy research and rigorous policy training programs.  The University would like to invite applications for substantiation-track faculty positions at all ranks (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor) in the field of public management and leadership.

Successful candidates should have a relevant PhD degree, preferably and ideally with at least 2 years of post-doctoral experience in relevant fields, such as public policy, economics, political science.  Applicants in the following three research areas: (i) Science and Technology (Innovation) Policy; (ii) Social and Urban Policy; and (iii) Public Policy and Governance for emerging technologies are especially welcome.  Proven capacity to interact effectively with government, industry, and commercial sectors would be an advantage.

For more information about the University and the Division of Public Policy, please visit https://hkust.edu.hk and https://ppol.ust.hk respectively.

Salary is highly competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits.  Housing benefits will also be provided where applicable.  Appointment at Professor rank will be on substantive basis.  Initial appointment at the Assistant Professor/Associate Professor rank will normally be made on a three-year contract, renewable subject to mutual agreement.  A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.

Application Procedure

Applications with (i) a full curriculum vitae; (ii) a statement of research and teaching; (iii) a teaching portfolio with student evaluations, if available; and (iv) names and email addresses of three referees, should be sent to the Search and Appointments Committee by email to PPOLhiring@ust.hk on or before Sunday, 14 November 2021.  Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.  Applicants will receive an acknowledgement by email upon successful submission.  We thank applicants for their interest, but advise that only shortlisted candidates will be notified of the result of the application.

(Information provided by applicants will be used for recruitment and other employment-related purposes only.)
