This is a full time, permanent academic appointment, within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.

Overall purpose of post: To undertake academic related responsibilities in the delivery of high-quality student education in Sport Coaching and Pedagogy and contribute to the teaching of other sport, coaching and PE related areas at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Also, to lead modules and have the ability to supervise student projects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

You should have:

  • A PhD related to Sport, Coaching and Physical Education with evidenced specialisms in Pedagogy and the Theory and Practice of Sport Coaching (or near completion)
  • Significant higher Education teaching experience and research activity
  • Experience of applied coaching environments either as a player, coach, or performance support
  • Ability to deliver a range of sessions in a sport and coaching environment
  • Experience of informing and supporting pedagogic development within applied coaching or teaching contexts; and/or practical experience in coach education, development and practice.

You will be:

  • Teaching students using appropriate instruction methods such as online lectures, tutorials, seminars, e-learning and other formal pedagogic work
  • Working towards undertaking quality research, professional publishing and scholarly activity as directed by the Programme Lead
  • Participating in, the administrative processes of the Faculty, including committee membership, quality assurance, recruitment, selection and admission of students
  • Undertaking curriculum development work including identification of student requirements, planning, development and evaluation of courses as well as course materials within the coaching science strand provision.
