We are seeking an enthusiastic, confident and proactive individual to provide academic advice and support to our students. You will deliver workshops on study skills including academic writing, time management etc. to both mixed and specific subject groups of students; provide one-to-one study advice to undergraduate and taught postgraduate students on an appointment basis; and develop learning and teaching resources, including video tutorials and online guides.

The Library offers a friendly and dynamic working environment and is an accredited Investor in People organisation, strongly committed to continuing professional development and staff training.

This is a full-time, fixed-term post for two years.

You will have:

  • A postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrable experience of providing study advice and support on an individual basis to students in a higher education setting.
  • Experience of and confidence in teaching effective study practices e.g. academic writing, report writing, research skills, time management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent listening, written communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of teaching and learning in HE; the study practices students need for success and an understanding of current trends and issues in higher education.
  • Good organisation and time management skills and a creative approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to liaise with academic staff on the skills development needs of their students.
  • A strong commitment to a high standard of user-focused service delivery.
