Surrey Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) is an academic trials unit that has experience, expertise and infrastructure to design, develop, organise and manage high quality multi-centre, randomised controlled trials. The CTU is located within the Clinical Research Building, which also houses Surrey Clinical Research Facility, Surrey Sleep Research Centre including the  Dementia Research Institute Living Lab, and Surrey Heartlands Health Tech Accelerator; all of which are situated on the University Manor Park site, close to the main University campus and Surrey Sports Park.

We are looking for an experienced Trial Manager to join the team and be responsible for the preparation, execution, monitoring and reporting of a large trial funded by NIHR HTA to assess the effects of giving patients fluids (clinically-assisted hydration) via a drip in the last days of life. The trial, managed by Surrey CTU will be the largest performed in this population, and will involve 1600 patients in 80 hospices and hospitals across the UK.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with previous experience within a clinical trials unit or equivalent clinical research management function to join a CTU with full UKCRC registration, and a growing trials portfolio.

The post holder will additionally be responsible for overseeing the data management of the trial, including line management of a Clinical Data Coordinator and assistants, so experience and understanding of the importance of the accurate entry, cleaning and validation of clinical trial data is essential.

The post holder will have experience working within clinical trials management, ideally in an academic CTU, good working knowledge of clinical trial regulations including ICH-GCP, and excellent organisational and communication skills. They will have the ability to work as part of a team and independently, using initiative where appropriate.

The Clinical Trial Manager will report to the Clinical Project Manager.

The post is fixed term until 31 March 2025.

Our benefits package includes generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, competitive salary and relocation assistance where applicable.

For an informal discussion of the post please contact Megan Roberts (Clinical Project Manager) megan.roberts@surrey.ac.uk or Prof Simon Skene (Director of Surrey CTU) s.skene@surrey.ac.uk
