Salary: The salary range will be Grade 8 £45,610 - £53,757 per annum or Grade 9 £58,404 - £63,483 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

The UCL Department of Chemical Engineering is routinely recognised among the very top departments in Europe and among the top 25 departments in the world in the QS World University Subject Rankings. 

We now wish to appoint a new staff member to strengthen our research within the important area of molecular thermodynamics, complementing and supporting our work across our wide portfolio of research, with a research program focused on the development and application of state-of-the art physics-based and/or data-driven modelling techniques. The recruitment of new academic staff to support our research represents an exciting opportunity to enhance our critical mass in this area and to establish new, multidisciplinary research activities in a modern, state-of-the-art environment.

You will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues within the department and the Faculty, as well as within UCL more widely.

Lead on the development of impactful research promoting a holistic approach to molecular thermodynamics, and its applications.

Carry out and publish high-quality world-class research that complements the existing departmental and Faculty activities, and secure research grant funding to support your research programme.

Support postdoctoral research staff, and PhD, MSc and undergraduate students.

Contribute to teaching existing or new taught modules in the areas relevant to the post.

Participate in departmental administrative, outreach, and enterprise activities.

Develop national and international partnerships with industry, academic institutions and other relevant organisations to maximise research impact.

Candidates should have a PhD/EngD in chemical engineering or relevant discipline, an appropriate background and research expertise to make contributions at the forefront of research in chemical engineering with emphasis on the areas of relevance to the post, knowledge of the fundamental principles of the discipline, and an ability to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Candidates should have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, ability to secure research funding and be an effective advocate for equality, diversity and inclusion.

For Grade 9, an appropriate background and research expertise to make significant contributions at the forefront of international research in chemical engineering with emphasis on the areas of relevance to the post. Proven excellent skills to conduct research work in the broader area of chemical engineering with emphasis on the areas of relevance to the post.
