The School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh is looking for a Research Data Officer to join the Research Services team.

The Opportunity:

The post-holder will proactively support the collection, storage, maintenance, reporting, publishing and dissemination of research information within the School of Informatics and assist in the management of associated platforms and business processes. The post-holder will be responsible for implementing open access policy requirements in collaboration with the Research Data Manager and Director of Research and will contribute to the school’s preparations for the next REF.

Knowledge, skills and experience


  • HNC/D qualified.
  • A high level of numeracy and attention to detail
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of databases with the ability to interrogate, manipulate and report on data.
  • Analytical and structured approach to tasks.


  • Degree in a numerate discipline.
  • Knowledge and experience of using University of Edinburgh systems, for example, BI suite (management information), Oracle (staff database) and PURE (research publications), EdWeb or similar.
  • Experience of the development of training materials.
