Leeds Arts University is the only specialist arts university in the North of England.
A vacancy has arisen for a Student Welfare Manager, responsible for planning, development and appropriate delivery of a progressive range of student centred, professional services to support student wellbeing. The role will involve providing leadership and direction to the Student Welfare team, providing guidance on all issues relating to student support whilst ensuring a comprehensive, insightful and co-ordinated approach to the delivery of services.
The post holder will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring policy and procedures relevant to the services available as well as contributing to the strategic planning and development of the Student Welfare team in conjunction with the Head of Student Support. This role involves collegially working with other departments across the University as well as working with relevant internal and external services to ensure an effective, inclusive and holistic service delivery.
The successful applicant must be educated to degree level of equivalent, hold a professional qualification (such as social work, mental health nursing, counselling,) or postgraduate qualification related to mental health.
Excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills along with well-developed interpersonal and leadership skills are vital. Applicants should have experience of working with a variety of issues and have a strong appreciation of student culture and the Further and Higher Education landscape. It is important that the post holder is a positive and committed team player, with an aptitude for leadership and the ability to work under reasonable pressure.
