We seek an experienced molecular virologist to join our Viral Zoonoses workgroup to lead and manage the research projects across several different research programmes. The tasks include executing research into zoonotic viruses such as rabies virus, hantaviruses, and coronaviruses, developing and validating diagnostic assays, authoring peer-reviewed papers, presenting the work to a variety of audiences, and training junior scientists/students. The position will involve working in SAPO4/ACDP3 containment laboratories, supporting disease surveillance, participating in the disease emergency response in the event of a disease outbreak, and undertaking bioinformatics analyses.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, demonstrated through published research in peer-reviewed journals, have a knowledge of animal and zoonotic pathogens and a broad understanding of molecular techniques, including qPCR, and sequence analysis.
