Our campuses across Surrey and Kent are vibrant communities, each specialising in different areas of the creative industries. We are also home to a thriving research hub, with academic experts and fellows leading the way in research on sustainability, design, textiles, animation, history and culture, and more.
Are you ready to share your passion for creativity with the next generation of innovators? If so, we want to hear from you.
Full Time: 36.25 hours per week
Salary: £31,405-£35,326 per annum
UCA is currently recruiting a health and safety advisor within the health and safety team. Our campuses host a range of creative activities from film and TV production through to workshops with welding, glass blowing and machining to name a few. This is a varied and fast paced role and you will need to be visible and hands on in your approach. No two days will be the same.
Reporting to the Head of Health & Safety you will be responsible for providing advice and guidance to staff and students both on and off our campuses. You will play a key role responding to and investigating incidents; developing and delivering health and safety training materials; and undertaking specialist risk assessments. You will also deputise for the Head of Health and Safety and assist with various aspects of the general health and safety management arrangements, including audits and inspections.
It is an exciting time to join the Health and Safety Team as we develop and implement a new safety strategy across the University. You will be presented with opportunities to influence this strategy and take ownership of key areas of development.
To be successful you will need a minimum of a NEBOSH certificate or equivalent and be participating in CPD with a recognised professional body such as IOSH. You might benefit from experience in a similar role; however, your abilities to do the job will be key to your success.
This is a customer facing role and you will be confident providing remote or virtual assistance and also be able to travel regularly between our campuses based in Surrey and Kent. Some overnight stays will be required. You will have a valid driving licence and use of a private vehicle. Millage and expenses can be claimed for work related travel as permitted in the university policy. From time to time you may be required to access heights or confined or restricted spaces.
