Applications are invited for an enthusiastic Research Fellow - Biostatistician, who have an MSc in either medical statistics or epidemiology & ideally have a strong background in longitudinal clinical data analysis, to join the CureME Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) research group at Clinical Research department, Faculty of Infectious & Tropical Diseases, at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). 

The post-holder will be joining the CureME research group, to help with longitudinal data analysis, including clinical and lab-based derived data on consenting research participants with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), and control groups, from the UK ME/CFS Biobank (UKMEB). Alongside this, there will be opportunities to contribute to grant applications, including high profile epidemiological studies using electronic health record data. Furthermore, the post-holder will be expected to help drafting the resulting publications and will be co-authoring them with the team.

In addition to knowledge generation, the post-holder is expected to engage in the wide LSHTM activities, by contributing with the education, internal and external citizenship. 

The successful candidate will have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree in medical statistics and epidemiology, relevant experience in conducting epidemiology/statistical research, particularly on longitudinal (cohort) studies, proven ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively as part of a research team, and proven ability to meet research deadlines, evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. This post is part-time 14 hours per week, 0.4FTE and funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) until 3 April 2022.

The salary will be on the Academic Pathway grade 6 scale in the range £40,611 to £46,110 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
