Solent University, Southampton is recruiting for a Research & Knowledge Exchange Bids and Funding Manager.
The University's knowledge exchange, research, and teaching respond to our society's challenges. Through inclusive and transformative learning and innovative partnerships within and beyond academia, we aim to positively impact our local and global communities in ways that make a sustainable difference environmentally, socially, culturally and economically.
Solent has recently launched its 2025 strategy https://www.solent.ac.uk/strategy-2025/our-priorities#research-and-knowledge-exchange, placing research and knowledge exchange at its heart and committing to improving our reputation for academic rigour and the quality of our applied research. We are proud of our University's real-world learning, real-world research, and real-world impact.
The role of Research & Knowledge Exchange Bids and Funding Manager is pivotal to supporting this aim. It involves working with the Research Office team, headed by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Research and Knowledge Exchange, to provide expert advice, develop and deliver the University's research and knowledge exchange strategy. In addition, the post holder will support the team's work with researchers from all Faculties and Schools to fulfil the potential for their activities to benefit our communities. The role is central to our efforts to create a forward-thinking academic community known for its knowledge creation, problem-solving, inclusivity, equality, and diversity.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a thorough understanding of the higher education research and knowledge exchange sector and relevant policies, regulation and governance. We are looking for an individual with a proven track record and background in academia and/or higher education professional support services. The successful candidate will be required to work closely with academics from Schools and Faculties and be familiar with both public and private UK and EU research opportunities to secure research and knowledge exchange funding.
You will offer expert advice to academics on bid proposals, coordinate with multiple internal and external stakeholders to the organisation, improve the quality of submission and the number of bids applied, and maximise the chances of winning them. You will be required to manage successful bids, maintain professional relationships with key funders, report and manage post-award requirements and deliver as needed. Your responsibility is to offer all forms of support to increase research and knowledge exchange income to the University. You will analyse the income data and make a real difference to Solent's impact agenda through its knowledge exchange, innovation and research activities.
The post holder should have experience in research and knowledge exchange bidding and funding processes, supporting academics, and working closely with professional support services. For an informal discussion about this post, don't hesitate to get in touch with Professor Syamantak Bhattacharya, email: firstname.lastname@example.org
