We are seeking a highly motivated Containment Level 3 Facility Manager to join the James & Lillian Martin Centre (JLMC) at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology.

The post holder will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day laboratory management within the JLMC. The principal managerial role will be the management of the Containment Level 3 suite, including but not limited to: training and mentoring CL3 users, including postdocs, research assistants, technicians, and PhD and project students drawn from other research laboratories; ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulatory frameworks for the operational disciplines employed by the suite. 

The post holder will also have a secondary managerial role of general laboratory management for the JLMC, including: lab rotas; ordering; and good laboratory practice. The post holder will also be encouraged to undertake their own CL3 virology research within the wider research programme of the JLMC.

The post holder should hold a postgraduate research degree, ideally a PhD or DPhil, in a relevant subject, together with at least eight years of relevant postgraduate research experience, including in mammalian cell culture and the growth and analysis of viruses. They should have the ability to oversee the training of laboratory users and discharge laboratory management duties. They must have excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively manage research projects. Good organisational skills and willingness to work as part of a team are essential.
