A flexible, enthusiastic and approachable person is needed for part-time reception duties in a busy, lively, friendly research institute. More than 240 scientists, with 45 support staff, work in the Gurdon Institute's purpose-built facility in central Cambridge.
Reception opens at 8:30 and closes at 17:00, Monday to Friday (fixed hours). This post will cover the morning hours from 8:30 to 13:00 (22.5 hours per week). Some flexibility in covering the hours of the afternoon post (13:00 to 17:00) during holiday periods would be helpful.
As the first point of contact for the Institute, you will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be professional and friendly. Main duties include telephone answering, greeting visitors, distributing mail, maintaining spreadsheets and databases, arranging out-going courier packages and general administrative duties.

Some experience of working in a reception role and dealing with courier paperwork would be desirable.
Limited funding: The funds for this post are available until 30 November 2023 in the first instance.
