Short Introductory Paragraph

This group’s research interests span a broad spectrum of methodologies ranging from social science-orientated techniques to applied financial economics. The key objective of group members is to produce research that is rigorous but also relevant to contemporary accounting and finance issues/debates.

The group’s areas of expertise are in the areas of corporate finance, financial markets, management accounting, and corporate governance and sustainability.

Many group members possess professional and academic qualifications. A number of group members serve/have served on prestigious academic and practitioner boards, as well as holding editorial positions in key academic journals in their respective fields.

Within the Accounting and Finance academic group we are especially keen to receive PhD research proposals in the following areas:

  • Corporate governance and accountability
  • Corporate Finance
  • Financial Markets and asset pricing

Entry requirements:

At least a 2:1 honours degree (or equivalent) with a preference for a UK Masters degree (with average programme mark of no less than 65%) or International equivalent. English Language requirement of IELTS band 7.0 or above with not less than 7.0 in each component.

Funding information:

The studentship provides a minimum tax free stipend of £15,609 per annum for the duration of the studentship plus tuition fees at the UK rate. International (including EU) students may apply however the total value of the studentship will be used towards the cost of the International tuition.

Please note that studentships will be awarded on a competitive basis to applicants who have applied within the School. Funding decisions will not be confirmed until early 2022.
