About the role:

We need a motivated and experienced information professional to lead the Book and Course materials section of the Collections Team, based at our Frenchay campus library. This busy and dynamic team works to ensure that electronic and hardcopy content is effectively managed and seamlessly delivered to library users.

This is a key post in LCI. You will work alongside the Collections Manager and other senior colleagues to develop and deliver strategies for improving access to information, and will use your specialist knowledge to particularly focus on provision of reading list content through effective procurement and digitisation of content.

You will line manage a team of Collections Support Librarians (2 FTE) and Library Information Administrators (1.5 FTE) who manage the day to day processes of reviewing reading lists; procuring stock; digitising and converting content into a range of alternative formats; managing our print collections; and ensuring accurate financial management.

Principal objectives of the role:

  • Being the principal point of contact for managing the university's reading list software
  • Ensuring the effective monitoring of a significant budget devoted to procuring book and course materials
  • Contributing to the implementation of a new Library Management System.
  • Scoping new ways of ensuring access to information, such as Open Access alternatives to existing resources, and investigation of new licensing models.

Key to success in this role will be your ability to:

  • Build on your existing expertise to maximise the opportunities offered by developments in reading lists, licensing, procurement, accessibility and usability to continually improve the end user experience for our large and diverse body of students and staff.
  • Establish good working relationships and collaborative working with a range of stakeholders.
  • Lead and motivate a team of staff as we adapt to new ways of working, for example, implementation of the new Library Management System, and related workflows.
