About the role:

The University library provides a modern, comprehensive service in support of teaching, learning and research, blending the provision of traditional services with a flexible and innovative approach to service delivery.

We’re looking for a resourceful individual to join our Chelmsford team. You’ll spend a proportion of time dealing with first line enquiries which include basic IT enquiries and a proportion of time working on content tasks which include reading lists, digitisation and processing new items. Our customer support is provided in person, by telephone, and online via email or chat. You’ll participate in a range of other tasks relating to the circulation of our stock and management of our spaces, as well as other duties and projects on a rotational basis.

You will have a minimum of two A levels or a Vocational qualification at NVQ level 3 or equivalent. You will be IT literate with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office. You’ll have a flexible approach, excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy working in a customer focussed environment. Previous experience in a customer service environment is essential and ideally, you’ll have some experience of library work. Your working week will be 20 hours. You will be expected to work 13.00-17.00 Monday to Friday. There may be occasional Saturday or evening work to cover Open Days and other events.
