The Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change is an independent, international and multi-disciplinary research collaboration based out of the UCL Institute for Global Health (IGH). The collaboration brings together over 35 academic and UN institutions from every continent, tracking the world’s response to climate change and the health implications of action and inaction. We are now seeking to appoint an Operations Manager who will help lead the operations of Lancet Countdown. They will be responsible for overseeing the management of key staff members and will work closely with the Executive Director (Lancet Countdown) to develop project strategy. They will also be responsible for the collaboration’s engagement with high-level individuals, its regional expansion, governance and administration, team management and for supporting a wide variety of new communications and policy engagement initiatives.
The post is available from immediately until July 2023 in the first instance.
The ideal candidate will have a Masters degree or equivalent relevant experience in a field of management, science, science communications or public policy. They will have extensive experience leading, managing, and working within multi-disciplinary teams especially remotely and across cultures.
Experience developing and delivering strategic programmes of work, ideally for international projects is essential as is experience leading with senior stakeholders, excellent interpersonal and communication skill, and experience handling large budgets and resource allocation within teams of multiple staff. Demonstrable knowledge of global health and climate change, sustainable development and public health would be advantageous, as would experience contributing to funding proposals for projects and/or developing integrated engagement campaigns for traditional and digital media.
