About the Role
Falmouth University's ambitious 2030 Strategy, ‘Doing it for Real’, is designed to deliver yet further growth in our student numbers and income through portfolio diversification, innovation, research and commercial ventures. It will establish Falmouth as the market leader for creative industries and entrepreneurship education over the next decade, capitalising on our considerable assets in innovation-led research and business incubation.
To help deliver our 2030 Strategy, we are now looking to recruit a Lecturer (Module Leader) in Indie Game Development to join our team at the Games Academy.
We are looking for an inspiring and engaging educator who can help students on our undergraduate and postgraduate courses, with particular emphasis on MA Indie Game Development. The ideal candidate will have experience working in the games industry in a design or technical design role, with experience of game development and solving problems related to design in a games context, as well as a strong desire to share practice and methods with students. They will be versatile, and be able to contribute to a teaching team which spans multiple different disciplines, encompassing both academics and games industry professionals. The ideal applicant will also have experience writing for games, and is well-connected within the modern AAA or indie games industry.
About You
This role is focused around teaching game development and potentially innovation and game production skills, while branching out to assist the rest of the academy’s multidisciplinary teams of students in the business context of game development – with a focus on Agile project management. It would suit an established game designer wishing to make the move into Higher Education, with a desire to share their knowledge with keen students.
