The Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre (JCBC) is located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. The building is home to the Wellcome - MRC Cambridge Stem Cell Institute (CSCI), the Cambridge Institute of Therapeutic Immunology & Infectious Disease (CITIID) and the Milner Therapeutics Institute. The Centre contains state-of-the-art research facilities along with a café, seminar room and exhibition space for events.
The Biomedical Centre currently houses up to 650 staff and students and around 70 research groups and associated core and research facility which was opened in 2019.
We are currently looking to recruit a Senior service Technician. The post holder will lead the Service Technician Team to provide general support to all research groups with the building. The post holder will be responsible for allocating staff for: distribution and collection of goods and parcels, checking delivery notes against orders, transport of hazardous waste from labs to collection points and it's correct processing, assisting with glasswashing and autoclaving where necessary, filling liquid nitrogen vessels and changing gas cylinders. Minor maintenance such as replacing lamps, reporting more major maintenance needs and providing a general service for the building.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual for this busy role. Applicants should educated to GCSE Level or equivalent and be a competent user of Microsoft packages and databases. The successful candidate will also have strong communication skills, ability to prioritise the workload of a team and meet deadlines. They will also have experience of working in a fast paced research facility.
