The Department of Social Policy and Intervention is seeking an outstanding individual for a new Research Assistant role reporting to Prof. Lucie Cluver.
The post holder will undertake day to day research assistant work on internationally funded projects conducting adolescent health research to improve social and health policy in South Africa and the region. The role will focus on research assistant work such as reviewing manuscripts, drafting initial documents, compiling papers and literature reviewing. We are looking for someone with experience and understanding of public health research designs, in particular longitudinal surveys, randomised controlled trials, and systematic reviews/meta-analyses, data analysis, data management, and supporting manuscript writing as well as contributing to reporting and dissemination materials. This will involve regular communication with research investigators, students and postdoctoral researchers and project management team.
We are looking for someone with research experience in one or more of the following topics (all in sub-Saharan Africa): social protection, violence against children, parenting programmes, HIV/AIDS, orphanhood.
The role could be part-time or full-time depending on the best person, and may also be suited to someone doing a doctorate or advanced postgraduate degree, or someone with caring or other responsibilities who prefers part-time work. This role is fixed-term to August 2023 initially and is offered on a part or full-time basis. The post is available for an immediate start.
