Do you have an enthusiasm for developing outdoor education at Leeds? Do you have a passion for climbing and spending time outdoors? Do you have excellent communication skills with the ability to develop strong business relationships and networks?
Outdoor education is an exciting and growing area of Sport & Physical Activity. We deliver engaging experiential programmes to undergraduates, postgraduates, staff and external clients. We facilitate access to outdoor spaces and provide adventurous activities as part of personal development and environmental education opportunities at Leeds.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of outdoor education and the climbing facility at the Edge, working closely with the Leadership & Outdoor Education Manager. This will involve coordinating bookings, dealing with customers and other staff members as well as promoting outdoor education and climbing at the University.
This role will also incorporate delivery of indoor climbing, outdoor sessions and assisting with academic practical sessions.
You will work with a range of different internal and external stakeholders including colleagues across Commerical and Campus Support Services and Leeds University Union.
Your working week will be based predominately at the Jerusalem Chapel which is on the University of Leeds main campus, however there will be the occasional requirement to work at our outdoor centre located near the hamlet of Selside in the Yorkshire Dales and at local climbing crags such as Brimham Rocks, Almscliffe Otley Chevin and Ilkley Moor.
Training and development opportunities will be available for the right candidate in equipment inspection, route setting, caving, kayaking, urban abseiling and a range of other outdoor activities as well as further academic development in the area of outdoor & experiential learning.
Hours will be variable, and the successful candidate will have input into the typical working pattern to fit around other responsibilities / childcare / other work etc.
It will include some evenings and weekends.
