As a Research Funding Officer, you will join a busy team with a strong reputation for rigorous grant funding processes, ensuring that gold standard governance processes for funding are implemented. This role will be critical to the delivery of the SMF Type 1 Diabetes Grand Challenge to warrant that the research which Diabetes UK funds has the best chance to work towards a cure for type 1 diabetes.

Role Responsibility
Working closely with the SMF Research Funding Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of the funding process for the SMF Type 1 Diabetes Grand Challenge funding programme, ensuring the day to day administration of the research grants, as well as dealing with enquiries from potential applicants. You’ll work closely with other roles within the Research Directorate, including the SMF Research Funding Manager, the SMF Beta Cell Programme Lead and the Research Impact and Evaluation Lead, as well as collaborating closely with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
The Ideal Candidate
You’ll be enthusiastic about research and its potential to improve the lives of people affected by type 1 diabetes. You will have a BSc in biomedical sciences or life-sciences and will be looking to establish a career in research grants management. You will have some experience of working in a research funding environment, or within a busy administration role.
