We are looking to recruit a graduate who is enthusiastic about progressing and developing their skills as part of our friendly, experienced equine ambulatory team. This role will give you the opportunity to work as a veterinary surgeon in first opinion practice with full backup and support from colleagues who hold diplomas and certificates in a variety of areas. Bringing your cases into the hospital for further workup with the support of the experienced hospital team and our excellent facilities is encouraged. The hospital team includes qualified RVNs who are available for support on the road where required, two interns, and four senior clinicians.

Candidates must have completed a veterinary degree registerable with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

An interest in teaching is essential as you will be involved in teaching of clinical students alongside your clinical work. Practical teaching sessions and other teaching opportunities are available for the right candidate. It will also be possible to be involved in relevant clinical research, but this is not essential. There are opportunities for further training in areas of interest, such as teaching qualifications or working towards advanced practitioner status. Case discussion is encouraged, and there is the opportunity to participate in journal clubs if you wish to.

Shared practice vehicles are provided for work use; you will need a clean driving licence (for the university’s insurance) and be willing to undertake a driver assessment if successful.

Appointment at grade 7 or 8 will be dependent on the experience and level of responsibility of the successful candidate. This full-time position will involve participation in the out of hours rota, for which extra remuneration is provided.

Informal enquiries are welcome and should be directed to Anna Hollis, Director of Equine Services, by email: arh207@cam.ac.uk
