Founded in 1894, City, University of London is a global university committed to academic excellence with a focus on business and the professions and an enviable central London location.
City attracts around 20,000 students (over 40% at postgraduate level), from more than 150 countries and staff from over 75 countries.
In the last decade City has almost tripled the proportion of its total academic staff producing world-leading or internationally excellent research. During this period City has made significant investments in its academic staff, its estate and its infrastructure and continues to work towards realising its vision of being a leading global university.
Background
Bayes Business School is among the small group of business schools with an established reputation for excellence in both business research and education. Bayes holds the “triple-crown” accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS). The school and its programmes are consistently ranked among the best in the world.
We are, despite this, not complacent. On the contrary, we will be seeking significantly to develop our research and education and, critically, our engagement with practice. We are conscious that business schools are experiencing disruption in how research is undertaken and disseminated, in how education is delivered and in what is expected by business and society from a business school.
The Faculty of Finance is home to world-leading academics with research and education expertise in all key areas of finance. It nurtures scholars who strive for international impact through their research, education, and service.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will design and deliver high-quality education in Corporate Finance and teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including large-lecture and online classes. You will play a full and active role as a Faculty of Finance member and demonstrate the potential to play a major role in educational leadership in the school. You will maintain a degree of scholarship in areas of finance relevant to teaching assignments consistent with ensuring high-quality teaching informed by current theory and practice.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will have completed or close to completing a PhD in finance or in a related field. You will have proven evidence of education excellence: awards, student feedback, record of delivering high-quality and innovative education at higher education or executive education levels. A HEA fellowship or an equivalent or willingness to gain HEA fellowship soon after their appointment. You will contribute to research activities aligned with the School’s Strategic Plan and the Research & Enterprise Strategy.
