Do you have experience of working with diverse groups of adults in community settings or further education? Are you passionate about raising awareness of educational opportunities in higher education? Do you enjoy working in partnership across a wide range of organisations and sectors?
The Lifelong Learning Centre (LLC) is concerned with widening participation at the University of Leeds especially in relation to mature, part-time and foundation level learners. Adult outreach and community development work, in collaboration with a range of education providers and local organisations has developed over a number of years. We have a dedicated team working with local communities, encouraging and supporting adults to consider higher education. In addition, we seek to prepare adults who lack traditional qualifications for academic study.
We are seeking to appoint a Communities and Partnerships Officer to engage, increase awareness and support adults into programmes at the University of Leeds. The appointee will demonstrate excellent organisational skills, experience of working with diverse groups and a commitment to widening participation for adults from socially and economically disadvantaged areas. This post is part-time, and the pattern of work can be negotiated, however you would be expected to undertake evening and weekend work when necessary. The geographical remit will primarily be Leeds, Wakefield and other parts of the Leeds City Region.
This post will include community engagement with adults from diverse communities particularly in Leeds and Wakefield. The role will include some informal training/facilitating as well as working with other education providers to progress adults studying at GCSE or other Further Education level 2 qualifications.
