This new full-time post is available from 1st August 2022 on a fixed-term basis until 1st August 2023. 

Please note that as of 1st September 2022 our colleges and schools will be moving into a new structure which will consist of the following three Faculties – Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, (to include the Medical School),  Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy and Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. 

Summary of the role

The College wishes to recruit a Post-doctoral Research Fellow to support the work of Dr Anne Corbett. This post is available immediately. The successful applicant will act as study statistician for the innovative PROTECT study, an online study of ageing and cognition that is running at the University of Exeter. 

The post will be an integral member of the dynamic PROTECT Research Team. The role will include working with large research datasets to support the PROTECT study and its portfolio of collaborative research projects. It will involve taking responsibility for designing and delivering statistical analysis plans, including major analysis priorities for the PROTECT study. The post will work alongside the study senior investigators to build research questions and concepts, and to publish multiple analysis outputs in a short timescale. The post offers the opportunity to build on your own ideas for data analysis and research, to publish extensively and to contribute to the onward development of the PROTECT study.

About you

The successful applicant will be able to handle and analyse large quantitative research datasets, conduct complex analyses independently, present information on analysis progress, outcomes and interpretations, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare communications for external bodies. 

Applicants will be educated to first degree level and possess a PhD (or nearing completion) in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within the established research programmes. Applicants will have good working knowledge of at least one commonly used statistical analysis programme and will show high levels of competence working with research data. Applicants will have some experience of working with large longitudinal datasets and / or cognitive data.
