We are seeking to appoint an individual who will support the institute’s functions and will be initially assigned to the Department of Molecular and Clinical Cancer Medicine and Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics. These departments are spread over several sites across central campus, with one off-campus.
Your primary role function will be core laboratory support including housekeeping, health and safety, maintenance of equipment, training of researchers and students on shared equipment, and more.
You must have a “can-do attitude”, be adaptable and have a flexible attitude to work as you will be asked to support other departments or sites within the Institute of Systems, Molecular & Integrative Biology assisting with setting up practical session for the undergraduate modules.
A large proportion of the job is core laboratory support, but occasionally, there will be opportunities to provide technical and experimental research support for members of academic staff, as well as high-quality experimental support on a cost-recovery model, but this will be limited. It is important to understand that this role is not a dedicated research technician on a specific research project.
You should have a BTEC Higher level (or equivalent) or a minimum of 3 GCSE’s at grade C (or above) or equivalent in English Language, Mathematics, and Information Technology/Computer Studies, and relevant experience in a similar role.
The University has the right to close the vacancy early if it is deemed that there have been enough applications received.
