We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic, and adaptable individual who will provide support and assistance within the Prototyping Department. They will support the use of the equipment and provide learning materials, skills training, and technical support to students and academic course teams across the institution including Ravensbourne’s internationally renowned Department of Architecture which has a strong heritage and reputation for producing highly employable graduates with a distinctive personal design identity equipped with excellent technical and future proof skills when at the same time challenges them to offer solutions to transform communities with a social and sustainable approach.
You will work closely with our students, and academic staff creating, preparing and delivering specialist workshops, providing support to enhance learning, and providing training and instructions covering 2D & 3D CAD design, modelmaking and other relevant prototyping skills.
The ideal candidate has knowledge and understanding of Architecture and spatial design workflows from concept creation to physical model making. They will be aware of the industry design approach and practices using digital fabrication, 3D printing and other prototyping techniques to communicate ideas and experience of using workshop equipment. They will hold a relevant graduate degree or industry experience in the area and they are able to demonstrate their knowledge and technical competence.
They will be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of learning and teaching methods and the challenges in a higher education environment. Experience in teaching and learning within an HE role is also desirable. The candidate will have a professional attitude and to-do approach to their tasks, will be interested to expand their knowledge within their industry and they will have the capability to design and deliver content relevant to their expertise.
Finally, they will possess excellent organisational and communication skills and can engage and motivate students directly with their discipline. The candidate will hold the talent to work autonomously in a self-disciplined manner, collaborate efficiently with the team, demonstrate a high standard of customer care and be highly proactive.
Please note that shortlisted candidates will be required to prepare and deliver a 10-minute presentation as part of the interview process.
