The Academic Section is responsible for managing all aspects of student and academic administration and plays a central role in delivering the University’s commitment to excellence in education across the University. The University is going through an exciting period of strategic international partnership development which Essex Abroad, alongside the Partnerships team in the Academic Section, is playing a key role in supporting.
Duties of the Role
We are looking to appoint a professional and well-organised Essex Abroad Officer to join the Essex Abroad team on a fixed-term basis. Essex Abroad is responsible for coordination and management of all forms of student international mobility on behalf of the University, this includes student exchanges, Erasmus+, ISEP, study abroad, overseas work and volunteering and summer schools abroad. We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to provide a key point of contact for advice and guidance to all students, which could include incoming students who are due to study with the University of Essex for a term or year and outgoing University of Essex students due to undertake a period of study abroad.
The role includes providing advice on course content, eligibility, admissions requirements, enrolment procedures, student support services and costs. This will involve liaison with Partner Institutions, Departments within the University and students to ensure all processes for incoming and outgoing students operate effectively. Additionally, the role will provide support to short term international programmes.
Skills and qualifications required
The successful candidate will have experience of working in an administrative capacity and in a customer service within a relevant environment. A high degree of cultural awareness and sensitivity is essential, as is the ability to work well in a multi-functional team. The role holder will be able to work independently and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience of using IT. The ability to manage a busy workload with conflicting priorities is essential, as is a flexible approach.
