About The Role

The Games Academy is currently seeking to recruit a Course Leader to develop and lead the Game Development subject area, as well as developing and leading undergraduate and postgraduate modules within games modules.

You will actively shape and contribute to the Games Academy’s ambitious research strategy. Notably, setting out to devise methods, tools and practices that are inclusive, creative and designed to enhance game development disciplines. You will be responsible for leading impactful research projects in this area in collaboration with others in the Games Academy and wider university, as well as leading on the development of bids for external research funding.

You will also be responsible for the design and development of curricula within the subject area, the management and organisation of courses within your subject grouping and line management of computing and game programming staff.

About You

The successful candidate for this role will need to be a pro-active leader to successfully deliver, and take ownership of, research and development. We are looking for individuals with advanced knowledge computing and game development processes, and ideally carry an earned doctorate or equivalent research experience in the relevant subject areas.

We are looking to hear from candidates who have the following skills/experience:

 

  • Proficiency in Game Studies and/or Game Design or similar
  • Experience of agile game development pipelines
  • Implementation of trans-disciplinary learning and teaching strategies at undergraduate level
  • Evidence of research informed delivery
  • Collaboration with industry partners, associated research networks and learned societies
  • Clear and concise communication skills with the ability to adapt your communication style to suit the audience
  • A passion for teamwork and building confidence for working in teams.

Applications are encouraged from academia involving related subjects. However, it would be desirable for candidates to be familiar with game development.

This is a full time, 35 hours a week position across Monday-Friday, based in-person on the Penryn campus.
