The University of West London (UWL) is one of the top 40 universities in the UK according to the influential Guardian University Guide 2022. UWL is now ranked 35th in the UK.
We are ranked no.1 in the UK for student satisfaction, student voice and academic support in NSS 2022. We have also been named the University of the Year for Student Experience and the University of the Year for Teaching Quality by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023.
Library Services is at the heart of the student and academic experience at the University of West London, facilitating creation of knowledge and ideas and developing confident, critically information-literate professionals. We place particular value on supporting our institutional mission of extending higher education to those traditionally excluded from it, and in facilitating research and scholarship in ways that connect with equity and widening participation.
We are looking for an Assistant Librarian to work across our Academic Support team and our Content and Scholarly Communications team. You will be responsible for print and digital collections management processes, including acquisition, cataloguing and access to digital resources. You will also contribute to the delivery of enquiry services and liaison to students and academic colleagues plus the creation of learning materials and training/teaching to support the teaching and learning activities of UWL schools and colleges. You will be part of the reading list team responsible for creating, adapting, administrating and reporting on UWL reading lists.
We are looking for a highly computer literate candidate with previous library or publishing experience. You will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision. You will have excellent communication skills and an ability to maintain high quality and accurate work to tight deadlines.
