Estates Services is responsible for the management and strategic direction of Oxford University's functional and commercial estate within Oxfordshire, including some of the most iconic buildings in the UK.

The Direct Labour Organisation (DLO) is a talented and motivated team that provides front line maintenance support to Oxford University departments based across the University’s varied estate portfolio.

The Mechanical Team Supervisors each hold responsibility for managing a large team of qualified tradesman, providing leadership and expertise, and ensuring health and safety best practice is followed at all times.

About the Role

As one of the Mechanical Team Supervisors, you will lead and motivate your team, providing them with ‘hands-on’ advice and guidance, and ensuring their work meets health and safety best practice.

There are also a number of external contractors and preferred suppliers that are engaged to deliver day-to-day repairs safely and efficiently.

The team works closely with the Building Services Engineers and Inspectors, as well as the Electrical Team within DLO.  As the supervisor, you will take responsibility for ensuring issues and challenges are escalated to DLO Management or the Building Service engineers when required.

About You

You will need proven experience of overseeing mechanical maintenance to be successful in this senior position.

Experience of managing a team of trade’s people, along with organising and allocating their workload is essential.

Ensuring your team meets their SLA targets and work in accordance with health and safety best practice is equally important.

You will also need to be a strong communicator, with excellent inter-personal skills, and be committed to providing a quality customer focus at all times.

A thorough understanding of buildings/facilities management issues and procedures, and a proactive approach to resolving problems is essential.

The Mechanical Team Supervisors provide to cover for each other when required, so adopting a flexible approach to your work is also essential.
