University of Cambridge - Cambridge Research Office

Location: Cambridge
Salary: £32,348 to £42,155
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 29th September 2022
Closes: 20th October 2022
Job Ref: EW33400

The Research Office welcomes applications for a Research Development Facilitator to join the Research Development (pre-award) Teams and work with research-focussed staff across the School of Clinical Medicine.

As a member of the Research Office team, you will work alongside academics, other Research Development posts and Research Operations staff to assist in drafting, preparing, submitting and approving research grant applications to external funding agencies, and will support the Research Office to deliver a seamless and integrated service. You will provide proactive research support across the University to drive high quality funding applications. You will have a lead role in providing advice on and supporting the preparation and costing of research bids, and providing support for electronic grant submissions and liaison with external funding bodies and collaborators.

You will be supported to take on varied responsibilities alongside the core requirements of the role, including assisting the Research Development Manager with the delivery of staff development programmes, supporting training for both departmental and Research Office staff, and supporting research strategy planning for departments.

Key skills and attributes required for this role include strong numerical and communication skills, as well as attention to detail. Excellent organizational skills, along with the abilities to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels and to build networks and effective working relationships, are essential for the role. A degree level qualification and previous project management experience are desirable, and you would need to be able to work independently with the ability to prioritise workloads as well as manage tight deadlines.

Prior knowledge and experience of research support activities in Higher Education would be advantageous but is not essential, as full and detailed training will be provided.

Your application should clearly set out how you meet the criteria listed in the person specification (the skills and experience required for the role) along with relevant examples. Candidates will be shortlisted based on these criteria.
