Applications are invited for a Teaching Associate position in Japanese Language in the Department of East Asian Studies, University of Cambridge UK, starting on 1 October 2023. This is a permanent full-time position.

The successful applicant will deliver Japanese language teaching at all levels, to the highest standard, contribute to the planning of language teaching in the section and conduct examinations at all levels. The role holder will provide advice and guidance to students and contribute to the administration of the Japanese section as required. The post holder may deliver some of the teaching with computer assisted language learning and on-line teaching facilities.

Applications are invited from candidates with experience of teaching Japanese as a foreign language in a Higher Education setting. A good command of written and spoken English is essential. The successful candidate must be fluent in reading and writing Japanese as well as command excellent oral presentation skills. Ideally, candidates will have a Master's Degree or the equivalent in relevant fields and have training in foreign language education. Knowledge of up-to-date language teaching methodology, syllabus design, material development and IT-assisted language teaching would be a plus.
