An opportunity has arisen for a part-time Analytical Laboratory Technician within Geography and Environment, which sits within the School of Sciences and Humanities. Geography and Environment comprises over 500 undergraduate and MSc students, 40 postgraduate researchers and 50 academic, research and support staff.
As a key member of the technical team your primary role will be to analyse samples provided by academic staff, researchers and students alike and to return high quality data accordingly. As part of the role, you will be required to support day to day laboratory activities aiding both the technical team and researchers. There may also be a need to drive our department vehicles to transport students/equipment both on campus and in the field. The ability to prioritise your workload effectively, work to tight deadlines, as well as to work with accuracy and attention to detail are essential to the role. The role will involve frequent interaction with students and staff, so you will need excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a variety of people in different situations. You will need to be versatile, enthusiastic and approachable and able to work independently as well as together with others in the small, dedicated technical team. A hands-on, pro-active approach to work and 'can-do' attitude are essential.
If you are an organised, enthusiastic team player, with proven experience of using analytical laboratory equipment, this is a great opportunity to join our team and to make a positive contribution to providing an outstanding service.
