Role Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the University of Birmingham’s Medicines Manufacturing Facility – MMF. The MMF is a GMP unit licensed by the MHRA and provides support to academic and industry partners developing new therapies, covering Advanced Therapeutic Medicinal Products (ATMPs), Faecal Microbiota transplants (FMT) and devices. The post-holder will manage the day-to-day activity across all three areas to ensure the operational delivery of their growing portfolio of work.
The MMF General Manager is a senior role, responsible for maintaining oversight of appropriate project set up and management, resource management, financial management and compliance of the MMF within the applicable standards and regulations, whilst continuing to expand the MMF’s services in line with the University’s strategies. This challenging and specialist role requires excellent operational management and leadership skills, coupled with an understanding of applicable regulations and codes of conduct. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential in order to interact with college-level management, as well as academic, NHS and facility staff. The General Manager will carry forward the vision for the MMF working closely with the Quality and Production Managers, Service Delivery Manager, production technician team and commercial partners working in the facility.
