Expanding the neuroactive pharmacopeia
(3 Year fixed term)
£35,143 plus London allowances (£3,727 & £1,402) per annum*
Applications are invited for a 3-year postdoctoral research position at the MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences (LMS) at Imperial College London (http://lms.mrc.ac.uk/).
Neuroactive natural products have led to important drugs, but we have barely scratched the surface of what nature has to offer psychopharmacology. How will we discover the next generation of neuroactive drugs? We have developed new technology for high-throughput behavioural screening and quantitative phenotyping that will enable us to find neuroactive natural products at an unprecedented scale. This position would give you access to unique screening technology and a group of interdisciplinary colleagues who work together on behaviour assays, instrument development, software, and data analysis.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative scientist with a PhD and an interest in behavior, animal-microbe interactions, synthetic biology, and/or neuropharmacology. Other members of the team have backgrounds in microbiology, physics, neuroscience, and engineering. Your particular path is less important than your desire to learn and work on interesting problems.
The Behavioural Phenomics lab is a friendly interdisciplinary team headed by Dr André Brown at the MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences based on the Hammersmith Campus of Imperial College London. For more information, see the group’s website at https://tierpsy.com/.

The post is an MRC Postdoctoral Scientist position providing training and development supporting post-doctoral scientists in early or changed career paths helping establish them as successful research scientists in their chosen field. We offer a highly attractive benefits package including competitive salary, excellent holiday entitlement and generous pension scheme.
