About the Role
To undertake research investigations in collaboration with and under the supervision of Dr Saroash Shahid and Prof Mangala Patel, to deliver the objectives of the research programme that involves the development of a novel dental fissure sealant incorporating self-aligning flake glass fillers. The role will involve advancing the technology into a clinically viable, self-adhesive, radiopaque fissure sealant formulation. The successful candidate will undertake formulation development, optimise resin-glass filler ratios, and conduct comprehensive in vitro performance testing.
About You
The Postholder will have a strong academic background with a degree and a postgraduate qualification in Dental Materials, Biomaterials Science, Polymer Chemistry, or a closely related field. The Postholder will bring hands-on experience in the formulation and characterisation of resin-based dental or biomedical materials, alongside a solid understanding of research methodologies, protocols, and the research environment. The postholder will be required to take a proactive and innovative approach, with a strong sense of responsibility in conducting research activities.
