The School of English is seeking to appoint either a part-time Teaching Assistant OR a part-time Teaching Associate in Applied Linguistics for 18 hours per week.
Preference will be given to candidates who specialise in Psycholinguistics and Language Development, with expertise in two or more of the following areas: Psycholinguistics, Language Acquisition, Language Development. Candidates are asked to confirm for which role(s) they wish to be considered as part of their application.
Teaching Assistant
The Teaching Assistant’s role will be to deliver undergraduate teaching in established modules, with assistance. They will manage their own teaching activity and reflect on practice and development of skills with guidance. Candidates for the role at Teaching Assistant level should have a Masters degree in Applied Linguistics or in a closely related area. Evidence of the ability to teach at undergraduate level is essential, covering (preferably more than one of) the above areas.
Teaching Associate
The Teaching Associate’s role will be to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, pursue high quality teaching-related scholarship with the purpose of contributing to the research-led teaching in the School and carry out a full administrative role in the School including moderation. Candidates for the role at Teaching Associate level should have a PhD in Applied Linguistics or in a closely related area, as well as having teaching experience. Evidence of the ability to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels is essential, covering (preferably more than one of) the above areas.
The post is offered on a part time, (18 hours per week), fixed term contract from 03 January 2023 until 30 June 2023.
