Vacancy Information
Applications are invited for PhD funding opportunities in the UCL Department of Mathematics starting in September 2023. Applicants will be considered for PhD funding from various sources, including
• Teaching Assistantships
• Heilbronn Doctoral Partnerships.
Details of each type of funding can be found below. Successful candidates will be admitted to the MPhil/PhD programme in Mathematics.
About you
Studentship Description
(i) Teaching Assistantships last for four years and will cover tuition fees plus a stipend of approximately £19,000 per annum. Teaching Assistants will spend up to 25% of their time teaching and marking, and the rest devoted to research towards their PhD.
(ii) Heilbronn Doctoral Partnerships last for four years and will cover tuition fees plus a stipend of approximately £19,000 per annum. Students may be required to attend summer workshops at the Heilbronn Institute.
Person Specification Applicants should possess a good honours degree (1st Class) in Mathematics, or an equivalent qualification from other countries.

2) Send an email to either Dr Christian Boehmer (Applied Mathematics) or Dr Ed Segal (Pure Mathematics) to inform us that you wish to be considered for PhD funding and naming one or more potential PhD supervisors.
3) Apply for the MPhil/PhD programme in Mathematics at UCL, 2023/24 entry, by completing the UCL Postgraduate Application on-line form available at https://www.ucl.ac.uk/prospective-students/graduate/apply.
