The Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences seeks an enthusiastic Clinical Research Fellow for the opportunity to develop their expertise in Motor Neurone Disease (MND, also known as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, ALS, and the related disorder frontotemporal dementia, FTD) through their engagement with an established internationally-leading programme of neuroscience research led by Dr Alexander Thompson, Professor Martin Turner and Professor Kevin Talbot. With potential to undertake cellular, imaging, neurophysiological or fluid biomarker research in MND, the post would be particularly suitable for those wishing to undertake a DPhil in neurodegeneration research. The post-holder will also receive training in all aspects of MND patient assessment and care.
Your duties will include performing clinical assessments and procedures; assisting with data collection and entry; developing research questions, testing hypotheses and analysing scientific data; and managing own research and administrative activities with guidance.
The successful candidate will hold a medical degree and full GMC registration, have specialist knowledge in neurology to work with MND patients and carers, and have competence with venesection and lumbar puncture. Current or previous Good Clinical Practise (GCP or equivalent) certification, previous experience of original research and previous peer-reviewed publications are desirable.
The post is full time for a fixed term of 36 months in the first instance.
Only applications received before 12:00 midday on 6th January 2023 will be considered.
Interviews will be held as soon as possible thereafter.
