At UCA, creativity and innovation are at the heart of what we do. Our legacy of educating eager and passionate artists, makers and thinkers runs back almost 160 years, and today we’re helping shape a global future that supports and nourishes talent worldwide.
Our campuses across Surrey and Kent are vibrant communities, each specialising in different areas of the creative industries. We are also home to a thriving research hub, with academic experts and fellows leading the way in research on sustainability, design, textiles, animation, history and culture, and more.
Are you ready to share your passion for creativity with the next generation of innovators? If so, we want to hear from you.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Technical Team at our Farnham Campus. We are looking to appoint a Textiles Technician to provide supervision of the Textiles resources.
You will be responsible for ensuring that the diverse range of equipment used by the University and equipment associated with textiles making are set up, functioning and maintained in line with University needs while providing technical support to assist staff and students.
You will also provide the care and maintenance of a range of woven textile equipment including table, dobby, countermarch and computer aided looms and conewinders. The role holder will support the use of software such as Photoshop, Illustrator and Weavemaker.
You will compile support materials and deliver technical demonstrations in weave processes as appropriate at FE, BA and Post-Graduate level.
You will be responsible for the health safety in your area of competence. Experience of safe working practices is essential while knowledge of risk assessment and COSHH in relation to textile working techniques is an advantage.
You will also have excellent communication skills, be a good team worker and be able to demonstrate an aptitude for dealing tactfully with students and staff. The ability to work under pressure is essential.
If this sounds like you, please do apply.
Actual Salary for this post is £14,571 - £16,278 per annum.
