About the school
The School of Arts, Culture and Environment (SoACE) traces its distinguished history back to 1852 when the Cheltenham School of Art was established. Today, as one of the three constituent Schools in the University of Gloucestershire, SoACE currently has over 2200 students and offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, as well as PhD’s in Humanities, Journalism, Film & TV, Art & Design, Performing Arts, Photography, and Architecture, Construction & Environment.
The Interior Design Course at the University of Gloucestershire has established itself as one of the UK’s top HE providers of sustainable Interior Design and was ranked 15th by the Guardian League Tables in 2027 and is also the 2025 winner of the BIID Interior Design Student competition. The course is highly innovative and seeks to prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of a career within this dynamic, global sector. We support all our students in acquiring all the necessary creative design skills, be they in digital design or artisanal, bespoke making. Students have an aptitude for agility and enterprise which increasingly underpin career opportunities across the interior design and related sectors and are encouraged to be client facing and entrepreneurial from the start of their BA journey.
