We are looking for a Disability Adviser to join our integrated Student Support and Success team. This role involves providing face-to-face support, advice and guidance to students with disabilities, long term medical needs and mental health needs.
The role offers an exciting opportunity to be involved in student facing support across the full range of university courses and degree levels. You will provide information, advice and guidance to students, teaching and professional staff and to applicants with disabilities, learning differences and long-term medical needs in line with the Equalities Act (2010) definition on disability.
You will be responsible for ensuring that individual requirements can be met to support students. You will assess students support requirements and you will draw up learning agreements for students with additional needs. You will facilitate students’ understanding of their Educational Psychologist and Needs Assessment reports. You will ensure that problems with support, or in the academic environment, are solved swiftly and fully through the implementation of specialist disability knowledge. You will be actively involved in improving the accessibility of the University and in ensuring that its practices and procedures comply with the Equality Act (2010).
As our ideal candidate you will have experience of working with students with disabilities within, HE or other educational settings. You will have a solid understanding of the Disabled Student Allowance (DSA) and the Equality Act (2010). Confidentiality and discretion are also key requirements for this position.
