Since 1966 Brunel has stood out from the crowd, pioneering innovation in education, and changing the lives of the students who come through our doors. We have grown from our founding student cohort of 866 into a diverse community of 18,000 students from more than 150 countries, supported by 2,500 staff.
The REF 2021 exercise confirmed our place in the top research intensive universities in the country, with 73% of our research assessed as world-leading or internationally excellent. We have a long history as a technical and technology-orientated university with close relationship to industry and business. We are home to Greater London’s newest medical school, through which we aspire to transform medical education and healthcare practice through education and research. Beyond our reputation in science and engineering however, we also host dynamic and growing business and law schools, as well as technical-orientated subjects as diverse as design and creative writing.
Under the new leadership of Professor Andrew Jones, we are in the process of developing an institutional strategy, that builds on our numerous strengths and take Brunel to new heights. To develop and implement this strategy we have reshaped our senior team, and the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research) is a key part of this. Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor and President, the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research) will provide academic leadership and strategic guidance to enhance the volume, quality and impact of the University’s research portfolio and raise the profile of our research externally, providing direction and ambition in the development of research policies and achievement.
This role offers a major opportunity for an outstanding individual to join Brunel at an exciting time in the University’s development. They will be a research leader with an international reputation, confident working at Board level to lead strategy, engage internal and external stakeholders. They will create opportunities for our research community and develop a positive research culture across the institution.
