About Us
UCL Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology is formally comprised of two research departments: The MRC Clinical Trials Unit at UCL (MRC CTU) and the Comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit at UCL (CCTU). The Institute is a centre of excellence for the conduct of all phases of clinical trials, meta-analysis, and epidemiological studies, across a range of diseases. Key areas of focus for the Institute are continuing to deliver innovations in trial methodology to improve outcomes for patients and training and developing the next generation of trialists.
About the Role
We are seeking to appoint a Principal Clinical Research Fellow to undertake a lead role within the UNITE4TB trial. The aim of the trial is to accelerate the development of new, short course treatments for tuberculosis.
The leadership role on the UNITE4TB trial will include providing medical input into protocol amendments and study documents, oversight of pharmacovigilance and medical monitoring activities, undertaking site and investigator training and supervising Contract Research Organisations (CRO). In this role the postholder will work as a key member of the Trial Management Team working closely with the Clinical Project Manager and overall clinical lead and will receive support from a dedicated team of trial and data managers working on the trial. They will also provide supervision for clinical fellows working on the trial and liaise closely with academic and industry partners in the international consortium.
The post is funded for 2 years in the first instance.
About You
As the successful candidate you will be expected to have prior experience in medical aspects of clinical trials ideally in the field of infectious diseases or tuberculosis and experience in co-ordinating multi-centre studies.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills in addition to a proven ability to lead the development, implementation and management of research projects effectively. It is expected that you will operate with the highest ethical and professional standards in research and education.
You will be educated to Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent and hold Membership to the Royal Colleges of Physicians (MRCP) or equivalent. An active publication record in peer reviewed/refereed journals or invited presentations is essential.
