MIF Head of Data Science - Grade 9

We are looking to recruit a Head of Data Science to play a key role in the delivery of Laboratories of the Future services within the Materials Innovation Factory. This role will be critical in defining the foundations for our future capabilities and for those of the emerging Autonomous Chemistry Innovation Centre. The successful candidate will establish a Data Science function within the Materials Innovation Factory and the Autonomous Chemistry Innovation Centre for the management of existing data assets centred on emerging cloud-based technologies; new capabilities which demonstrably improve the value of data assets derived from our laboratory led activities. A key requirement of this role is the proven ability to build effective relationships, with a wide range of our academic research groups (including chemistry, computer science and engineering), and industrial partners. A self-starter, you will be expected to work on your own initiative and have an excellent track record of identifying and implementing data led improvements, whilst ensuring necessary changes are effectively and sensitively managed.

Appointment to this role will be at the first point of the grade 9 salary scale.
